What Should I Do After my Theta Healing™ Session? 9 Tips for Aftercare
So, you’ve completed your first Thetahealing™ session!
You must be wondering, what now?
A Thetahealing session can remove some pretty intense energies so it’s only natural to assume there will be an adjustment period. The reality is that, in most cases, you won’t have to do too much to care for yourself post-Theta. Sometimes, however, you might have a really deep shift, or the session may not have been enough to clear everything involved with the topic. Let’s talk about what you you should do post-theta to best care for yourself!
Although you can go about your day normally, it is possible that you will experience some symptoms of the energy settling in. Thetahealing™ can be intense! By following these pointers, you’ll receive more benefits and accelerate the healing process.
1. Stay hydrated!
This is #1. If you don’t do anything else, make sure you do this one.
You’ve just had a deep healing and a lot of energies are shifting and settling in. Water will help to heal and smooth the way for this integration to happen. It will also help to clean out any toxins that are making their way out of your body.
If you can, be sure and drink enough water before the session, and keep an eye on your water intake in the days following. The recommended dose is half your body weight in ounces. Don’t stress yourself out nitpicking on the amount though, just check in with your body and make sure it feels like it’s had enough!
* Watch your caffeine intake, don’t deviate from your patterns, but if you are drinking caffeine, make sure to supply your body with extra water.
2. Get plenty of rest!
After your Theta session, if your body is feeling tired, it is wise to give yourself rest. If you are feeling fully energized, then don’t sweat it. The key here is to listen to what your body is asking for.
Don’t be surprised if your body wants extra sleep when you lay yourself down at night. You most likely are processing a lot of energy and giving your body that time and space to heal will work wonders!
3. Let yourself process emotionally!
This is a big one! In some cases a theta session can be known to kick up some buried emotions. If this is the case for you, it’s very important to let yourself feel these. Ideally your session will have cleared the majority of these deep emotions, but if there’s still more information that needs to well up, you may need to give yourself the privacy and space to feel what comes up.
My clients have reported a range of emotions. More often than not, you can feel light, spacious, joyful, excited, and giddy, but it is also possible that anger, sadness, anxiety, fear, or even some depression can come up afterwards. Whatever emotions are present, it is important that you allow them to be as they are. As much as possible try to breathe and stay present with the emotions that arise. Feel them, let them flow without judgment: this will allow the healing to occur at the deepest level.
In many of our upbringings, we were encouraged to repress our emotions, but try not to do this! This will not serve you, and will only create blockages in your energy that—at best you will probably have to deal with later, and at worst, can sometimes grow into major health issues
If, after your Theta session, you feel the desire to cry, then please do so! This is what you’re meant to do! If you feel a rush of anger, by all means, throw a temper tantrum! Let it out! If you feel nothing but peace and equanimity, then by all means go about your day!
If you find yourself experiencing dark or scary mood swings, do not judge yourself for this experience. Instead, give yourself space to feel this way, trust yourself through the experience, and if it becomes too extreme (unfortunately only you can be the judge of this— extreme mood swings are a very unusual reaction to a theta session), don’t hesitate to contact a theta healer to help you out with this.
4. Have Patience and try to feel rather than think about changes!
Even one Theta session can heal and change a lot in your experience quite quickly. In some cases, the changes will feel obvious and significant, in others the changes that are brought in can be more subtle or overarching.
Try not to spend too much time searching for differences or dwelling on the changes. Instead simply enjoy your newfound space and ease. The truth is, that even if a lot was shifted, you will simply be living in your new reality. It will be hard to remember what it was like before, because that old pain will have vanished.
Even so, if you’re curious about what changes you have wrought from your session, you can try picturing the topic you worked on before the theta session, and then see if you still feel the same way about that topic after the session.
5. Embrace and take care of potential symptoms
When you receive Theta healing, your body might shift into a higher frequency. Healing can occur which activates this higher vibration. If your body is not used to this vibration, there is a possibility there are some old energies that need to be released. When this happens, there is some possibility that a detox process can be triggered (sometimes known as a “healing crisis.”)
What this means is your body is releasing old toxins that no longer resonate with the higher frequency that you are operating from. When you are detoxing, you could experience any number of symptoms, from cold-like symptoms such as sneezing, running nose, soreness, headache, muscle soreness, or fatigue, to fever, diarrhea, rashes, or acne. Don’t panic! Your body is simply cleansing itself of old information which is surfacing to be processed out.
If a detox occurs, let yourself get plenty of rest, eat healthy, and drink plenty of water and herbal tea. If you have access, let yourself consume organic, healthy fruits and vegetables to support your body at this time. Try to eat as clean as possible, going for whole foods, avoiding cheap oils or fried foods.
If your system has decided to go full-on detox process, your symptoms can range from mild to severe and last a day or up to 3 weeks. If your systems persist or become more severe, don’t hesitate to see a functional doctor or holistic practitioner (for support, or to make sure it’s only a detox). Barring another condition, have trust in your body’s process. Discomfort is a part of healing. Don’t judge. Just give yourself love, support, and gentleness and stay aware!
6. Disconnect from technology!
This one’s a big ask, so if it’s not an option for you I totally get it.
If it is — I highly recommend disconnecting from your phone, laptop, etc. for the rest of the day, as this will help your nervous system to decompress and relax. It’s always a good thing to take a break from your patterns, so if the session affords you the excuse to do so, why not let it!
7. Feel free to ask questions!
If you have any concerns or questions after your treatment, or if there is something that surfaces that you are not sure what to do about, find out if your healer offers follow-up phone calls, texts, or supportive emails. If not, reach out to a theta healer (you can find many on thetahealing.com). You can also always check in with me at creaturesofconsciousness.com.
8. Embrace and accept the new you!
There’s no doubt that you will feel different after your Theta session. When you receive a healing, old patterns will be released that will make way for a more peaceful, present state of existence for you. There is, however, the possibility that what was changed will make way for something else that was blocked in your system to surface. If this happens, don’t panic. Give this new information space to exist. Remember that it is also just programming. It too can be released, processed, or integrated. None of this is who you truly are.
The most important thing is to remember that it is possible to choose what is right for you. All you need to do is listen to yourself. This may include allowing yourself to rest, giving yourself joy and pleasure in whatever form, or turning to a trusted person for advice.
9. Recognize the badass you are.
Finally: Give yourself a pat on the back for doing this. It is a rare and special thing to opt in for facing the ugly stuff and actually healing! YOU are doing it.
